Based in Washington, D.C., Sery E. Kim is an Attorney and Strategic Communications expert. Sery consults for Fortune 100 companies, Top 20 law firms, Republican candidates and their campaigns and also provides political commentary for national outlets such as Bloomberg TV & Radio.
Before her time in the private sector, Sery spent more than a decade working in politics and public policy. Sery worked for President George W. Bush at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as an Advisor for Secretarial Initiatives; the 2012 Romney Presidential Campaign as a Deputy Coalitions Director; and spent four years as a Congressional staffer (which included two years as the Chief Health Care Counsel for Chairman Darrell Issa at the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee and an additional two years as the Senior Legislative Counsel for Chairman Michael Burgess at the House Energy and Commerce Committee). Most recently, Sery also served in the Trump Administration as a Sherpa during Trump Transition and a Senior Advisor at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
Sery has a law degree from The University of Texas at Austin School of Law, where she graduated at age 23, the youngest in her class. During law school she won Best Advocate in the State of Texas (first year), and also won the University of Texas at Austin School of Law's Best Brief (second year). She completed her bachelor’s degree in Texas as well, having finished her Bachelor’s of Arts in History in two years, while graduating second overall in her class of 5,000 undergraduates.
As a hobby, Sery freelances as a food-and-travel writer. In this capacity, over the last three years, Sery has regularly provided on-air commentary for nationally syndicated televisions shows airing on ABC, CBS and FOX while also writing online pieces for CNN Travel, The Daily Telegraph, FOX News National Lifestyle, U.S. News and World Report Travel, Forbes Travel Guide, MSN, Huffington Post and MONEY Inc. Her work has most prominently been featured in both TIME INC.'s seminal Travel and Leisure Magazine and Food and Wine Magazine. Additionally, Sery continues to appear on local mornings shows for the Washington, D.C. market such as ABC’s “Let’s Talk Live.”
